Mr Aamir Khattak, MSc

Clinical Psychologist

I am a Clinical Psychologist and Counsellor with professional experience supporting adolescents and adults through emotional, psychological, interpersonal, academic, and career related challenges. My work combines psychological assessment, counselling, and practical skills based support to help individuals better understand themselves, manage difficulties, strengthen coping skills, and move forward with greater confidence. I work with people experiencing anxiety, stress, anger, trauma related difficulties, relationship concerns, career uncertainty, and challenges associated with personal or cultural transitions. I aim to provide a respectful, confidential, and non judgemental space where clients can openly discuss their concerns and work towards meaningful and realistic change. My approach is collaborative and person centred. I believe effective counselling begins with listening carefully to the individual rather than simply applying a standard solution. Together, we identify the concerns, understand the factors contributing to them, and develop practical strategies suited to the person's circumstances, strengths, and goals.

About Me

I am a Clinical Psychologist with an MS in Clinical Psychology and a BS (Hons) in Psychology. Over the course of my professional career, I have worked in counselling, psychosocial support, education, career guidance, organisational psychology, and student wellbeing. My experience has allowed me to work with people from different backgrounds and with a wide range of personal, emotional, educational, and professional concerns. I have also received international professional training, including training through the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Counselor Training Institute at St. Cloud State University Minneapolis Minnesota USA I believe that seeking counselling is not a sign of weakness. It is often a practical decision to understand what is happening, develop healthier ways of coping, and regain a sense of direction. In my work, I value empathy, confidentiality, respect, cultural sensitivity, and evidence informed psychological practice. I try to create an environment where clients feel heard rather than judged and supported rather than directed.

Approach

My approach is collaborative, person centred, and practical. I begin by understanding the individual's concerns, circumstances, strengths, and goals. Depending on the needs of the client, sessions may include psychological assessment, therapeutic counselling, psychoeducation, coping strategies, emotional regulation, problem solving, and skills development. I recognise that every person's experience is different. Therefore, I adapt my approach according to the client's needs rather than assuming that one method will work for everyone. My goal is not simply to help clients manage a problem for the moment, but to help them develop greater self awareness, emotional resilience, healthier coping strategies, and confidence in dealing with future challenges.
