Dr Ester Haumann, PhD

Jungian Analyst

Verified

I'm an experienced and qualified Clinical psychologist, Jungian analyst, and my work is also informed by Somatic Experiencing.

About Me

I am a Jungian analyst and registered clinical psychologist in Oranjezicht, Western Cape, South Africa. I help adults recover from abuse, heal trauma, resolve relationship problems, work with dreams, and build self-esteem. I conduct consultations, Jungian analysis and clinical supervision.

Approach

Depth-oriented, body-informed practice shapes how sessions unfold: I listen for symbolic material alongside bodily responses, inviting gentle movement, breath work or dream exploration as clues to stuck patterns. From my Cape Town consulting room and online, in English or Afrikaans, sessions move at a considered pace—sometimes reflective and image-rich, sometimes brief and regulation-focused—with practical reflections between meetings to track shifts. This way of working tends to suit adults seeking steady recovery, clearer relationships and renewed inner confidence.

Basic Information

In-person & Online

Services

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, my therapeutic work is mainly informed by Jungian and psychoanalytic thinking. In addition, there is an emphasis on the embodied aspect of therapy/analysis. A further interest is the training and development of psychotherapists: colleagues consult me both for their own therapies/analyses and for clinical supervision. In this regard, I have been involved in the training of Jungian analysts in Cape Town at the Southern African Association of Jungian Analysts (SAAJA). I do some pro bono work, preferably in my area of interest, which is working with mental health professionals who are studying or training. I offer both online and in person consultations.
