This page lists Black Teen Counsellors in Nairobi. 5 in all.
That is 5 of the 24 counsellors listed in Nairobi.
These are practitioners who identify as Black on their profile. It is their own answer to a profile question. We do not check it, and nothing here is ranked.
The request is usually narrower: a practitioner who will name race early, without you having to explain yourself. Some family therapy approaches recommend the therapist raise it near the start 1. You can ask a practitioner how they handle it.
What the counsellors on this page do, and how to choose one
For a teenager, the counsellors listed in Nairobi offer talking sessions of about an hour 2. Counselling usually runs weekly, for a set number of sessions.
Assessment, diagnosis and medicine sit outside counselling; ask who provides them where you are. Open the profiles below to compare experience, language, fee, and whether they work online. Ask how soon each one can see you.
What a counsellor does, and how counselling differs from psychotherapy
Everyone on this page describes their work as counselling. A counsellor listens and helps you find your own solutions to problems 2.
The training emphasises the conversation itself. Sessions usually stay close to something happening now: a loss, a relationship, work, a decision. That focus is what most often separates counselling from longer psychotherapy.
A counsellor is not a medical doctor and does not prescribe or diagnose. Ask a counsellor what they work with, and for how long.
What this page filters on
These are the only filters: the practitioner's stated Black identity, the specialism recorded as Teen and the professional title counsellor.
What therapy costs here
Do affordable options exist in Nairobi?
Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital - General Mental Health Outpatient Services. Phone +254 20 2337694. Kenya's Social Health Authority covers mental health care in its benefits package. Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital is accredited by the Authority and says so in its own public material. To use that cover you must be registered with the Authority, and what it pays for is set by its benefit rules. The hospital runs an ordinary outpatient clinic from Monday to Friday. Ring the hospital's enquiries line to arrange an appointment. It is an enquiries line, not a crisis line.
The Nairobi page answers more questions about therapy there.
What these practitioners record
Sessions here are offered in English and Kiswahili.
Who registers therapists in Kenya?
The title you will see is Counsellor. Search the register by name at Counsellors and Psychologists Board (CPB). A current entry is that body's own published record of the person.
A practitioner must hold that registration to practise legally in Kenya. See the Kenya page.
