In Italy, state-licensed psychiatrists and nationally-registered psychologists operate under entirely different rules, and knowing how to check their official registrations is the first step toward finding safe mental health care.

In Italy, the regulation of mental health professionals is highly structured. Psychiatrists are medically licensed, while the titles "Psychologist" and "Psychotherapist" are legally protected and require mandatory registration with a regional Order.

This guide explains the requirements for each profession, how to verify a provider's official registration, and what to look for to ensure you receive qualified care.

Therapy should be personal. Our therapists are qualified, independent, and free to answer to you – no scripts, algorithms, or company policies.
