I can hear the fear of the world, feel it in my bones, taste it on my tongue, and it hurts.

I took a day off Facebook and after only a few hours I’m already feeling a lot better, more centred, calmer. I can hear the fear of the world, feel it in my bones, taste it on my tongue, and it hurts.

It is a battle not to let it in, and sometimes, in my weaker moments, it seeps in of its own accord, finding its way inside me like the very virus that we are all so scared of. Collective fear eats away at your health, mental, physical and energetic health, it can make you sick.

Therapy should be personal. Therapists listed on TherapyRoute are qualified, independent, and free to answer to you – no scripts, algorithms, or company policies.

I’m human just like you, we are in this together, and our fear is real. People online are sharing information and misinformation, it's difficult to know which articles are real, which are hopeful, and which are simply looking for clickbait numbers so they can get their advertising money.

Our primal instinct is to find out, to learn what the threat is, so we can protect ourselves from it. When I go against this primal instinct and bring myself back to my centre, I am whole again.

Thankfully I can still go to my office and I can still work, my sessions are all online and yes, I’m still open for business. But many of you may not be in the same position, and the fear you could be feeling is not just about whether your loved ones will be safe, but also around how will you get the money that you need to put the food on the table and pay for the roof over your head.

All of this is real, and it is really happening, but we need to take a step back and breathe. I wrote before about the nocebo vs the placebo effect. Please feel free to go read it, but this isn’t what I’m writing about here. I’m writing about getting a hold of ourselves and choosing to live, rather than drowning in fear. We have to make the decision that life must go on.

Taking a Facebook break allows me to recalibrate, focus and ground myself. So that I can begin to ask the question “How can I help?” instead of asking "What do I need to run away from?".

Maybe you need to take a break from social media and the news too? Choose to ignore forwarded messages, turn off what’s app notifications, and play beautiful music and watch movies that you love. This isn’t running away, it’s disconnecting, deliberately creating a space where you can breathe.

Because we are holding our breath. We don’t know what is happening, and we don’t know what is going to happen next. If we disempower ourselves to the extent that we cannot make any decisions, then life is, well, going to crumble a whole lot worse than it already has.

Reconnecting to vibrant health means that I sit with my body and tell it that it can heal itself. I visualise myself well and everyone that I love well, and I still wash my hands and stay indoors. I am not going to fall for magical thinking – we cannot dream the correct antibodies into being, as nice an idea as it is. Energy works on the energetic plane, and this virus is on the physical plane, we have to take a multi-faceted approach.

Watch my YouTube video for an exercise that you can do for yourself to disconnect from fear and reconnect to your body, and to the innate capacity that we all have for vibrant health, or try my SoundCloud exercise to help you clear your energy field.

You can choose to focus on the inner strength and remarkable creativity that we human beings have when we are put into a corner and need to find a solution. We will prevail. We will work together and something will show up, because we need it to. And in the meantime, think of the gifts - Mother Earth gets a break from all the footfall, the aeroplane traffic and can breathe and unfold itself. It’s time to hibernate, time to recalibrate, and time to connect to your inner wisdom. Let's use this time and put it into something empowering.
