Dr Toni Abrahams, DPhil

Clinical Psychologist

I am a clinical psychologist working in the public and private sector. I have a special interest in working with people with Intellectual disability as well as their families. I also work with adults who are navigating mental health issues.

About Me

I welcome individuals across all developmental stages, helping them navigate a wide spectrum of psychiatric difficulties. My particular interest lies in supporting those with intellectual disabilities, offering a rights-informed and evidence-based approach. I aim to create a supportive environment where each person feels understood. This ensures our work is always relevant to your unique needs and challenges.

Approach

Work with me is paced and practical, shaped to how you think, learn and communicate and what you need. I offer private online sessions, in English and Afrikaans to make the process accessible. Assessments clarify your strengths and support needs. Depending on this, therapy can include shorter-term structured work with flexible, person-centred exploration, or longer-term depth or supportive work. This way of working tends to help families, caregivers and individuals seeking steady, safe and empowering support through complex presentations and issues.
