Ms Teresa Solomita

Licensed Clinical Social Workers

I am a relationship therapist dedicated to helping you have the most intimate and joyful relationships - romantic, social and professional.

About Me

In addition to earning a Master’s of Social Work (with a focus on group therapy) from Hunter College School of Social Work, I am a graduate of the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies, The Couples Institute and The Center for Group Studies. I am also a faculty member at The Center for Group Studies. My passion for learning about and being a part of relationships continues—I provide workshops and trainings for colleagues and attends lectures, experiential conferences and readings. I have worked for years with individuals including single men and women, as well as couples who experience discord or dissatisfaction in their relationships from a psychodynamic, attachment-based and experiential perspective. Her relational groups are experiential in nature with the focus on what is happening in the room in the here and now.

Approach

To foster intimacy and joy, I guide sessions toward noticing everyday moments where connection frays and nudging your communication into clearer, kinder patterns. In my Brooklyn office and virtually, sessions are collaborative and paced to your comfort—often combining focused conversation, brief experiential exercises, and gentle homework that illuminate patterns like codependency or communication traps. In groups or with partners I help translate insights into practical changes people can try between meetings. This approach suits adults and couples ready to build steadier, more satisfying bonds.

Services

I offer individual psychoanalytic therapy, couple therapy and group therapy. Individual therapy is for you if you are in crisis, anxious, depressed, lonely and have either never had therapy or are seeking deeper individual attention. Group is an affordable, dynamic method to help you make big changes in your life and might be more appropriate if you are stuck in your individual work, you have done a lot of individual therapy and want to try something new or you have difficulty in social situations. Couple therapy is valuable to couples who have recycled conflicts, major arguments, can no longer find the joy, have sexual difficulties, or just cannot decide if the relationship is right for you.
