Ms Shelley Horwitz

Clinical Psychologist

An experienced psychotherapist attending to individuals, couples, parents and families, of all ages and forms - honouring diverse identities, relationships and family structures - so that all may understand more, develop more, and live well.

About Me

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I'm interested in our inner worlds, and how they shape our sense of self, our relationships, and our overall wellbeing. I believe that attention to our experiences - past and current - as well as our dreams and associations, can enrich our understanding and help us set more effective intentions and plans. I also believe that the shared therapeutic endeavour can bring relief, bolster further attention and courage, and more.

Approach

I draw on diverse learning and training experiences to offer meaningful connection and support. I aim to provide a curious and compassionate space and presence, to enable us to explore and understand your situation more deeply, and then to consider whether self-action, or acceptance, or other steps and resources would be helpful to you. I offer in-person sessions, as well as online sessions (where I've assessed them to be useful enough), in English and Afrikaans.
