Ms Shamal Jaykar

Counseling Psychologist

Counselling Psychologist with Trauma-informed and Social justice-informed (intersectional feminist, caste aware, and queer affirmative) practice, with an eclectic therapeutic approach inclining towards post-modern, humanistic, and relational approach to therapy.

About Me

I support individuals navigating complex personal experiences, especially those shaped by trauma or societal factors. My practice is deeply rooted in social justice, valuing your unique identity and background. Drawing from humanistic and relational principles, we explore your world together. This collaborative approach helps you find clarity and build resilience, fostering a sense of belonging and agency.

Approach

Therapy unfolds as a collaborative map-making of your experience, naming harm and noticing resources while keeping attention on identity and context. I hold sessions in Mumbai and online in English, Hindi/Urdu or Marathi, moving between reflective listening, relational experiments, and practical pacing so you can test new ways of relating to yourself and others. Between sessions I offer short, focused reflections or gentle experiments to help translate insights into everyday steps, especially around anxiety, trauma recovery, relationships and chronic stress. People navigating layered social pressures who want a respectful, justice-aware space often find this way of working helpful.
