Sandy Brown, MA

National Certified Counselor

I work with adults who are healing from childhood, relational, and religious trauma. Many people I support struggle with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship patterns, or a sense of disconnection that didn’t start in the present. In our work together, we use both conversation and body-based, nervous-system-focused approaches to help you understand your patterns, regulate your system, and gently work through what you’ve been carrying. Sessions move at a pace that prioritizes safety, choice, and respect for your boundaries, focusing not only on your story but also on what your body and emotions are communicating in the present. The goal isn’t to fix you, but to help you build self-trust, emotional steadiness, and real, lasting change.

About Me

Hi, I’m Sandy. I’m a trauma therapist, and I work with adults who are healing from childhood, relational, and religious trauma. Many of the people I support come in feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or tired of carrying patterns that don’t seem to change, even after trying to understand them. Working with me is gentle, collaborative, and paced with your nervous system in mind. You don’t have to know exactly what’s wrong or how to explain everything to start. You won’t be pushed to relive the past or go faster than feels safe. We focus first on helping you feel more steady and supported, and then gradually explore what you’ve been carrying, using both conversation and body-based, trauma-informed approaches. I work best with people who want a space where they can exhale, make sense of their experiences, and begin to feel more at home in themselves. Therapy with me is about helping your system soften out of survival mode and supporting real, lasting change.

Approach

My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and nervous-system focused. I integrate talk therapy with somatic and experiential work to support healing at the root, not just at the symptom level. Rather than pushing to revisit the past, we work at a pace that prioritizes safety, stability, and choice, paying attention to what is happening in the present moment in both the body and the therapeutic relationship. I view symptoms as meaningful responses to what you’ve lived through, and therapy as a collaborative space to build new experiences of trust, regulation, and connection so change can happen from the inside out.
