Coming to therapy is no small feat. If you’ve found yourself here, you’re likely feeling that already. Things may feel especially loud or scary. So I want to acknowledge your courage for taking this first step. My goal is to create a safe space where you can say things out loud that may have felt hard to admit, even to yourself. Some arrive to therapy with a clear sense of what has led them here. Others don’t know where to begin. That’s okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out, this space will meet you where you are.

About Me

I’m Ria (she/her), a Counselling Psychologist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. Over the past 8 years, I’ve worked closely with people from diverse backgrounds in a range of mental health and educational settings, including 300+ hours as a therapist, 350+ conversations as a crisis responder, and mentoring over 75 students as an academic tutor. Alongside my clinical work, I’ve facilitated psychoeducation initiatives across schools in Canada and collaborated with organisations such as the Canadian Mental Health Association, Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre, and the Matrix Neuropsychiatry Research Cluster to create mental health content aimed at reducing stigma and challenging misconceptions around substance use and mood disorders. After living abroad for eight years, I recently moved back to India. Working across multicultural spaces has deeply shaped my approach to therapy. Through TherapyRoute, I’ve supported clients both within India and internationally, including individuals based in the USA, Canada, Belgium, and the UK. At the core of my work is the belief that most people simply want to feel seen, understood, and accepted without judgment.

Approach

While my approach is eclectic, which implies that I draw from different modalities, I find myself coming back time and again to narrative therapy. Narrative Therapy reminds us that the "problem" is the problem and NOT the person, thereby reclaiming a sense of identity. When the problem feels overpowering, we see it as a part of us-an omnipresent force, that seems irreversible, and that's where a therapist comes in, to gently guide one to be able to rewrite their story. My practice is Sex-Positive, Queer-Affirming, and Affirming of Alternative Relationship Dynamics.

Basic Information

In-person & Online

Services

I primarily work with adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves or their lives. Clients often come in navigating anxiety, intrusive thoughts, decision paralysis, childhood wounds, burnout, identity confusion, or emotional numbness. If your needs fall outside my current scope, I will do my best to help guide you toward appropriate resources. My practice currently ONLY offers paid online therapy sessions. If you are looking for free mental health services, I would encourage you to explore local community or NGO-based resources that may offer support at no cost. I currently work with clients aged 18 and above. If you are under 18, kindly reach out to a therapist who specializes in working with adolescents.
