“I want to help because I have been helped by what I share. I knew there is more to life than how I was feeling. Once I sat with my therapist, session after session, frustration after frustration. I help you feel heard, unburdened and able to start witnessing and validating yourself.”

About me

My path has not been linear. Alongside my counselling training, I began my healing journey in 2018, moving through many different ways of healing from nature, to dancing, to just sitting in the depths of it with my Counsellor. Training in some and experiencing the benefits in all- which means I understand healing at many levels. I bring that depth of understanding into the counselling room, whilst keeping grounded in what is realistically actionable. This shouldn't set me apart, I am dedicated to my own uncomfortable healing and self improvement : you are working with someone who takes this seriously and has experienced the results of her own courage and curiosity.

Approach

Pluralistic Counselling starts from a simple belief: that every person needs their own unique approach. Being pluralistic means we can work with Cognitive Behavioural techniques, with a Person Centered attitude and Psychodynamic curiosity. CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works on looking at your behaviour and what has shaped it. How do your expectations shape your internal workings. Action, Beliefs, Consequence. We start to unpick the automatic negative thoughts to retrain your brain to new positive ones. Works in the future, looking at real time belief systems, suited to short term therapy, favoured by the NHS. Doesn’t look in to why those beliefs exist. Psychodynamic Approach - often seen as something very freudian, this approach actually helps us pick apart, understand and get to befriend the internal world. Understanding that your experiences shape you, how we conform to archetypes and Internal Family Systems aka Parts Work can help us gain control over all the voices in our heads. Psychodynamic operates on the premise that unconscious processes and early childhood experiences drive current behaviour and emotional distress. This looks to the past for answers. Person-Centred - Lets you speak and explore anything and everything you want to. No direction, just witnessing what is with you during the session. Rebecca stays with you the whole time, summerising, reflecting and paraphrasing so you can witness your own internal world, gain insight into your own thoughts and behaviours, clarify emotions, and move toward self-actualisation by feeling truly heard and understood. The present and current moment only.

Services

I am familiar with the experiences of those working in the ambulance service, so I feel comfortable supporting people from medical or frontline backgrounds and understand the terminology they use. I’m happy to listen and give you space to decompress and work through any difficult experiences. I have also completed training in PTSD and CPTSD to support me in this work. I love working with those who simply want a “professional friend”: someone who will listen to the drama without adding to it. Someone who is there for you to spill your busy mind out to and help you organise your thoughts. I help you recognise recurring patterns and offer techniques to build resilience. I aim to be a consistent presence in your life, someone you can rely on, and a co-regulator your nervous system can attune to. Whether online or in person, I offer grounded warmth and unconditional positive regard for whatever you bring into our sessions. My spirituality is an understanding of the greater whole that we are all a part of: the intricate dance of nature, the cosmos, and all those other souls that choose to dance with us. There is room for the stories and teachings of all religions. There are fragments of truth in every story, and all carry a moral teaching on how to be a better human. If you would like me to bring this into the room, we can; otherwise, by default, I keep it to my private life. However, through my awakening into this innerstanding of what it is to be human on this planet, I have made my biggest breakthroughs.
