Paul Brusser

Clinical Psychologist

Integrative therapist with an interest in depth and meaningful engagement with life and its challenges. My work draws on psychodynamic, analytic, mindfulness, and behavioural approaches.

About Me

I am grounded in a depth understanding of a person, born out of the classic analytic schools of Freud, Carl Jung, the Object Relations theorists, and modern neuropsychoanalysis. I offer authenticity, honest reflection, safety, non-judgment, and curiosity toward everything the human life has to hand us.

Approach

My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and differs with each individual. Attention is given to emotional patterns, relationships, dreams and personal symbols or metaphors, core memories, existential or spiritual concerns, or what emerges in the therapy relationship itself. At the same time, I work in a collaborative way, adjusting the focus of therapy, whether that involves open-ended exploration, working with a specific difficulty, or both. I draw from evidence-based mindfulness and behavioural approaches, including ACT and DBT, when these are useful. I do not approach therapy as a set of techniques or solutions, but as a thoughtful process that develops over time. Throughout, I place strong emphasis on a safe and authentic therapeutic relationship.
