OCD Action

OCD Action

OCD Action provides support and information for people in the UK affect by OCD or related disorders.

About Us

We run a mental health organisation in Clerkenwell, Greater London. We provide clear information, resource referrals, and facilitated support groups. We welcome adults, families, and carers seeking practical community-based support.

Approach

Practical guidance and clear resources shape how we meet people, breaking overwhelming rituals into small, testable steps. In our Clerkenwell setting, working in English, sessions feel steady-paced and collaborative, with short teaching moments followed by time to apply ideas together. Between meetings we signpost local supports and encourage gentle, peer-supported tasks so learning continues outside the room. Those looking for pragmatic, community-rooted help with OCD-related difficulties often find this hands-on, paced approach helpful.

Services

OCD Action offers support and information services to anyone affected by OCD or related disorders (including BDD, health anxiety, and habit disorders).

We offer the following free services- Helpline – a confidential listening and information service where you can speak to one of our volunteers about what you’re experiencing and get information about how OCD works and how to access treatment, support, and adjustments for it.

Offered by email and over the phone. The phone lines are open 9:30am to 8pm Mon-Fri depending on volunteer availability.

If no one is available to speak please leave a message and we will always call you back and try you a few times if needed.

Support groups – while support groups are not treatment, they can offer an invaluable, safe, and supportive space to speak to and hear from others who have been or are going through similar things.

Face to face support groups are run by independent facilitator and can be found all over the country (a map of these is on our website). Groups are also available over the phone or over Skype for those who can’t access face to face groups or who are looking for something specific (for example, we run groups for parents, for people with certain manifestations of OCD, and for people living with OCD and another condition).

Next Steps – this service offers up to 12 weekly calls from one of our volunteers for people who are attending CBT for their OCD. The purpose of these calls is to check-in and help with engagement and recognition of good quality therapy.

OCD Youth – our youth service has a website with lots of information and a moderated forum, all catered to young people ages 13-25 (http://ocdyouth.org) and an email they can get in touch with to speak to one of our young volunteers (youthhelpline@ocdaction.org.uk).
