Nupur Akotkar, MSc

Counseling Psychologist

I am a Counseling Psychologist with over 10 years of professional experience in the mental health field and a private practice spanning nearly a decade. I hold an MSc in Counseling Psychology from Christ University, Bengaluru, and have worked across clinical, hospital, rehabilitation, addiction, NGO, and private practice settings. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe therapy is not about fixing a person, but about creating a safe space where individuals can understand themselves, process difficult experiences, develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others, and create meaningful change. My areas of work include trauma and its long-term impact, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation, self-worth, inner-child work, family and relational patterns, life transitions, and personal growth. I also work with clients who find themselves repeatedly experiencing similar emotional or relationship patterns and want to understand the deeper roots of these experiences. Alongside psychotherapy, I am a certified Family Constellation Facilitator and incorporate systemic and trauma-informed perspectives into my work where appropriate. My practice, Kasturii, is built around the belief that healing is both deeply personal and influenced by the relationships, experiences, and environments in which we develop. I work with adults in a non-judgmental and confidential environment, tailoring therapy to each individual's needs, pace, and goals. My aim is to help clients move beyond simply coping with their experiences toward developing greater self-awareness, emotional freedom, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of agency in their lives.

About Me

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with people across different stages of life and with a wide range of emotional, relational, and psychological concerns. I believe that every person carries a story, and that sometimes what we struggle with in the present has roots in experiences we may not have fully understood or processed in the past. Therapy, for me, is a space to slow down, make sense of that story, and develop a deeper understanding of ourselves without judgment. My therapeutic work is trauma-informed, compassionate, and collaborative. I work with adults experiencing difficulties related to relationships, self-worth, emotional patterns, life transitions, trauma, inner-child wounds, and recurring patterns that may feel difficult to break. I am also a certified Family Constellation Facilitator, which has expanded my understanding of how individual experiences can sometimes be connected to broader family and relational systems. I integrate this perspective thoughtfully alongside my psychological training and therapeutic work. At Kasturii, my practice, I aim to create a space where you don't have to perform, have all the answers, or pretend that everything is okay. You can arrive exactly as you are. Together, we can explore what is happening beneath the surface, understand what you need, and work towards creating a life and relationships that feel more aligned with who you are. I don't believe healing has to look the same for everyone. My role is not to tell you who you should become, but to walk alongside you as you discover that for yourself.

Approach

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, collaborative, and integrative. I believe therapy works best when it is not a one-size-fits-all process, but is adapted to the individual, their experiences, and what they hope to change. I see therapy as a space where you can slow down and understand not only what you are experiencing, but also why certain thoughts, emotions, reactions, and relationship patterns may keep repeating. My work draws from psychological and therapeutic approaches that help clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of self. I also incorporate trauma-informed and inner-child perspectives when relevant, particularly when present-day difficulties are connected to earlier experiences. As a certified Family Constellation Facilitator, I also have training in systemic approaches that explore the influence of family and relational patterns. When appropriate, this perspective can complement the therapeutic process and help clients look at experiences within a broader context. I place strong importance on creating a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential therapeutic relationship. I do not see myself as someone who simply gives advice or tells you what to do. Instead, I work collaboratively with you to understand your experiences, identify patterns, build resources, and make choices that feel meaningful and sustainable. The pace of therapy is guided by your needs. Some people come to therapy looking for support through a specific difficulty, while others want to understand themselves more deeply or work through patterns that have been present for years. Wherever you are starting from, the goal is to create a space where you can be honest, curious, and genuinely yourself.
