Mrs Nicoleen Smit, BCouns

Art Therapist

My work combines therapeutic arts counselling with traditional art practices, creating space for emotional healing, relaxation, stress reduction, and personal growth. I offer a range of creative and therapeutic services, including art-based counselling, workshops, and guided healing experiences.

About Me

I am a registered Professional Therapeutic Arts Counsellor, dedicated to supporting people in their personal growth and journey toward wellness. My work is grounded in a holistic and eclectic approach, allowing me to tailor support to each individual’s unique needs and circumstances. I have years of experience helping individuals navigate trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, self-esteem challenges, conflict, and stress. I also work with children and adolescents, supporting developmental, behavioural, and emotional concerns in a safe and compassionate space. A special area of interest in my work is the emotional aspects of stuttering, which has been a focus of both my practice and research. My scope of work includes individual counselling, group work, and community-based projects, with a primary focus on offering support, guidance, and practical tools for healing and growth.

Services

From time to time, I facilitate traditional art workshops in drawing and painting, as well as holiday art workshops for both adults and children. I also offer specialised therapeutic arts workshops focused on areas such as healing for caregivers, grief journeys, emotional healing, neurographics, intuitive painting, and more. My practice also includes Gestalt Dino Therapy Projection, creative pastoral counselling, and corporate workshops designed to support emotional well-being, self-awareness, and team growth. In addition, I host paint events and creative gatherings for teens and adults, using art as a way to connect, express, and heal.
