Dr Mel McElhatton

Registered Psychotherapist

I am passionate about supporting individuals going through anxiety, depression, or gender and sexuality issues or concerns. I also work with neurodiversity (ex. ADHD, Autism), and can offer assessments for adults. My practice is evidence-based, and also with a touch of humour.

About Me

I help individuals navigate significant life challenges like anxiety, depression, or questions around gender and sexuality. I also support neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and Autism, and can offer adult assessments. My approach blends evidence-based methods with a touch of humour, creating a grounded space for exploration. This helps you feel comfortable, understood, and able to find practical ways forward.

Approach

Work tends to pivot between identifying patterns in daily life and testing small, practical experiments that feel doable. Sessions in Pietà or online, in English or Maltese, are paced to your energy—sometimes we slow to track bodily signals, sometimes we map thoughts and routines and set short between-session steps. I use targeted assessments when clarity helps, and weave somatic noticing with pragmatic techniques so change can be noticed as it happens. This way of working often suits people exploring identity, neurodivergence or healing from past harm.
