Dr Lea-Ann Pileggi

Neuropsychologist

An experienced clinical neuropsychologist working with all ages for diagnostic as well as intervention purposes, with a special interest in neurodiversity.

About Me

I am a neuropsychologist in Lakeside, Western Province, South Africa. I assess and treat autism, conduct and child behaviour problems, dementia, and epilepsy. I provide medico-legal assessments, psychoeducation, and adoption evaluations for families and courts.

Approach

Rather than starting with labels, I begin by mapping how thinking, memory and behaviour affect daily life, then shape assessments to answer the questions that matter most. From my practice in Cape Town I work in Afrikaans, English and isiXhosa and offer both in-person and online sessions at a measured, collaborative pace that suits families and individuals. Sessions combine structured testing, observation and guided practice, with clear feedback and practical strategies to try between meetings. People looking for grounded explanations and usable tools usually find this approach helpful.

Basic Information

Services

Neuropsychologists are interested in brain-behaviour relationships. We are interested in how the brain works and its influences over human behaviour, cognition, and functioning. A typical neuropsychological assessment provides information regarding cognitive abilities, behavioural, social-emotional, and psychological functioning (see Services). A neuropsychologist relates these abilities and aspects of functioning to the brain. As neuropsychologist, my goal is to develop an understanding of the nature and origin of the challenges experienced, make a diagnosis (if applicable), and provide specific recommendations for appropriate management and/or treatment.
