Miss Laura Alonso Mira , BSc

Integrative Psychotherapist

I am a BACP accredited counsellor & psychotherapist with over ten years of clinical experience, working with adults and young people in private practice alongside leading a counselling service in London.

About Me

I am an integrative psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with extensive experience across both private practice and the public sector in the UK. Alongside my practice, I have spent the past decade leading and supervising a counselling service in London, supporting clients and therapists working with complex difficulties. I have also worked as a tutor and supervisor for trainee counsellors at the University of East London and contributed to research and academic marking within the department. Over the years I have worked with people facing a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties and the longer‑term impact of painful or overwhelming experiences. I work with adults from a range of cultural backgrounds and life circumstances, including people navigating life transitions, family life and the emotional demands of parenting. Being part of a multicultural family has also given me a personal appreciation of how identity, culture and belonging can shape our experiences and relationships. You do not need to be in crisis to come to therapy. Many people seek a space to pause, reflect and make sense of their experiences, particularly when certain feelings or patterns seem to repeat or feel difficult to change.

Approach

My training is integrative and includes person‑centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural and existential approaches. I have also undertaken further training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). While I draw on different models, my work is primarily informed by psychodynamic, attachment and trauma‑informed thinking. In practice this means paying attention to emotional patterns, relationship dynamics and how earlier experiences may continue to shape the present. We may also explore the meanings you have come to attach to certain experiences or feelings, and how these influence the way you relate to yourself and others. Alongside developing insight and understanding, therapy can also involve finding new ways of responding to difficult thoughts and feelings, identifying what truly matters to you so that your actions feel more aligned with the life you want to live. I have also undertaken a range of additional training and professional development, including areas such as trauma, sexual and relationship abuse, sex therapy and clinical supervision. I engage in ongoing supervision and continued professional development as part of maintaining reflective and ethical practice. I aim to create a space where you do not feel judged or required to filter yourself, and where parts of you that may feel contradictory, ashamed, uncertain or overwhelmed can be explored openly.
