About Me
Approach
I have eighteen years of experience working in NHS with people who suffer from mental health problems and the impact these have on their significant relationships. In the last four years I have been working with clients who want to explore their stories and make sense of their relationships, through my online private practice.
Some people who have had painful experiences in their past suffer from mental health problems most commonly anxiety and depression as well as low self-esteem . This is usually because the effect of these experiences on the person's sense of self as well as on their significant relationships have never been explored or discussed . However, not everybody develops mental health symptoms and find it useful just to understand their relationship patterns so that they could make more informed decisions regarding their future relationships.
The type of therapy that I offer is aimed at people who seek to make sense of their difficulties by exploring their generational stories, family values and personal experiences to bring an awareness to how these might have played out in their life transition stages, as well as in their relationship to others. These can be processed individually or in couple or family sessions.
In that context, an added value of family therapy is creating a safe space for family members to talk about family issues and to express difficult thoughts and emotions and understand each other's experiences while building on family strengths.
I work with individuals, couples and families with adult members . My therapy style is collaborative and flexible recognizing the fact that life is dynamic and needs and circumstances can change during the course of therapy.
I have lived in three different countries where I experienced being a minority personally which equipped me with the understanding the struggles of individuals who have a quieter voice.
