Ms Joanna Poppink

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I work with adults who want recovery from anxiety, eating disorder, binge eating, low self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy. My practice is tailored to the individual's needs at the time and can be flexible as the person develops. I use several methods including CBT, psychodynamic psychotherapy, art and dream work.

About Me

I support adults ready to navigate anxiety, low self-esteem, or the complexities of eating disorders. My practice is tailored to your unique needs, evolving flexibly as you develop. We can explore insights through methods like CBT and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Sometimes, we might use art and dream work to help voice what feels hard to express. This collaborative space helps build lasting confidence and a stronger sense of self.

Approach

I blend structured skill-building with reflective exploration, shifting focus as you feel ready so you can name what feels stuck and try different ways of responding. In my Los Angeles office or online, sessions move at a conversational, steady pace: some meetings focus on tools and breathing, others follow imagery or dreams to clarify emotions, and between sessions I may offer brief reflections or small experiments to try. I listen closely, offer gentle observations, and we choose doable steps together. People wrestling with anxiety, low self-worth, or eating challenges often find this practical-yet-deep approach helpful.
