About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Stamford, Connecticut. I treat addiction, anxiety, mood disorders, learning or developmental difficulties, and provide parenting support. I offer psychotherapy, online therapy, and group therapy to help you manage symptoms and improve daily functioning.

Approach

For the past 20 years, James has been combining traditional talk therapies with the cutting-edge training of the brains electrical activity. In this time, the technology for identifying and targeting this training has developed rapidly.
QEEG, or Quantitative Electroencephalography is an advanced diagnostic tool that records and measures electrical activity in the form of brain wave patterns. This is sometimes referred to as “brain mapping”.
These brain maps are then compared to normative data bases of age and gender matched individuals who do not have any history of psychiatric difficulties. This identifies the patterns of brain activity producing symptoms related to issues like anxiety, ADHD, addictions, or PTSD to be targeted for training. The training is accomplished by providing audio or visual feedback that reinforces healthy brain activity. Similarly to the way one learns to ride a bike, the repeated practice of this reinforced cortical activity teaches the brain how to change it’s activity to a healthier way of operating.
Many clients have found the combination of these two types of therapies lead to a rapid and lasting resolution of their symptoms.
