Mr Ira Barouch

Psychoanalyst

I have practised for 35 years specializing in working primarily with adult men who are dealing with depression, anxiety, addictions, relationship issues, midlife and aging challenges. I understand the defenses and resistances men develop that keep them from enjoying more fulfilling lives. I offer reasonable fees.

About Me

For 35 years, I help adult men uncover the roots of depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I understand the specific defenses that can prevent men from living more fulfilling lives. In our work, we gently explore these patterns. This approach helps you move beyond feeling stuck and address midlife and aging challenges with clarity. My aim is to make impactful therapy accessible.

Approach

Exploring the origins of depression and relationship patterns shapes how I pace therapy: steady, direct, and attentive to the defenses that show up in the room. Sessions in my Ossining office or by secure online video, conducted in English, are conversational yet focused, with room for silence and occasional practical tasks between meetings. I track shifts in mood, cravings, and connection, using reflective listening and targeted challenges to help you test new choices. Men facing midlife, addiction, or strained relationships often find this practical, thoughtful rhythm useful.
