About Me

Gráinne is an experienced psychotherapist supporting adults through many of the emotional and psychological challenges that can arise across the lifespan. Her background in nursing and integrative psychotherapy brings a steady, whole‑person perspective to her work.

Approach

I work with clients who feel stressed due to personal or work-related relationships. If you are feeling overwhelmed, not good enough, or having low self-worth. I empower you to make choices that result in positive changes in your life, a step at a time, at your pace. Counselling is about dealing with current issues in your life. Psychotherapy goes back to the roots of your habits. As humans, there are two states of being. Feeling safe and not feeling safe. Neurobiology has shown that physical areas in your brain become activated when you no longer feel safe. Stress is a normal biological response that helps keep us safe when we feel danger. We all have unique factors that lead us to feel stressed or in danger. We also have a relaxation response that can help bring our stress response under our control. To understand our stress response, we must first know the signs and symptoms of stress. Therapy can help you to recognise your stress levels. I can also teach you how to activate your relaxation response. You will discover your biological reactions, some of which you by attending therapy and working with me. You will learn how to evoke the relaxation response, resulting in you gently accepting yourself. Therapy is a process and takes time to uncover your responses. Therapy takes time, and practising the skills you learn in counselling is like going to the gym. If you go irregularly, your muscles and fitness levels do not increase unless you attend regularly.
