Emily Cox

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

I empower clients to discover their strengths and form strong foundations for therapeutic work. Let’s be real here-therapy IS work. I focus on client-centered approaches. I am experienced in including creative and expressive arts techniques. I find that many people have what they need success within them.

About Me

I believe real therapeutic work helps uncover the solutions already within you. Our client-centred sessions focus on building strong foundations for lasting change. We can explore feelings and insights through creative and expressive arts techniques. This offers new ways to understand yourself. My direct, collaborative approach suits those ready to actively engage in their growth, working together to discover your inherent strengths.

Approach

I guide sessions toward practical experiments that help you try small changes and learn from them, keeping therapy direct and hands-on. In my Asheville, North Carolina office, we move between focused dialogue, brief skills practice, and occasional art-based prompts that help children, adolescents, and adults name feelings and test new responses. Between meetings I suggest collaborative, doable tasks so momentum carries into daily life and we track what proves helpful. This way of working fits people ready to actively engage and create steady, manageable change.
