Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

I believe that your distress deserves time and space to arrive at insight. The capacity for depth and insight can be developed through a therapeutic relationship to bring your unconscious life to conscious awareness. An insight-oriented approach aids in addressing underlying patterns through reality confrontation and relational practice. A context-oriented approach with emphasis on a non-diagnosis stance brings life into your lived experience of mental health.

About Me

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist, interested in addressing and alleviating distress through an insight-oriented approach. My areas of support I offer include attachment history, grief and loss, self and identity, anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, relationship dynamics (family and marriage), transitions (life and career), gender, sexuality, and queer affirmative care and personality difficulties. I form a collaborative approach relying on the therapeutic community methodology to form my relational practice.

Approach

I rely on psychodynamic psychotherapy and relational practice to inform deep self-work, to aid the client in developing capacity for insight and perspective building. This will aid clients in navigating their own distress by working through or accepting their unconscious patterns as is. Reparation through the therapeutic alliance aids in identifying unresolved conflicts and concerns from prior experiences that help identify defenses. Identifying one's own defenses or resistances aids in self-work to evolve or accept them in adulthood. Pattern recognition develops the capacity to self-analyze with compassion, curiosity, and to find new ways to experience distress, relationships with others, and the environment. An intersectional approach to understanding the self through one's lived experience and the earth-boyd-mind connection can help look at distress beyond psychological symptoms. Therapy with me will facilitate language for the self, to integrate distress into your narrative rather than erase it.
