Dr Deborah Shaw, Ph.D.

Clinical Psychologist

verified by TherapyRoute

As an experienced licensed clinical psychologist, I offer evidence-based psychotherapy and consultation regarding a wide range of mental health conditions and situational stressors faced by youth during the pre-teen and adolescent years. My goal is to help my clients develop healthy and effective coping strategies in a caring, accepting, safe and client-centred environment. I also provide individual therapy to late-stage adolescents through their college and university years. In addition, I work with parents to help them develop effective strategies to support their children to regulate their emotions and behaviour.

About Me

I am registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the College of Psychologist and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario and I have experience in psychological, psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessessments as well as psychotherapy with children and adolescents. My clinical training placements and work experiences have taken place in local school boards, children’s mental health agencies, and private practice. Although my therapeutic orientation is primarily drawn from the principals of CBT, I use a client-centred and integrative approach that incorporates principles from other forms of therapy, including interpersonal and narrative therapy. I enjoy working collaboratively with parents and other healthcare providers as well as school personnel to support my clients. I offer both in-person and online psychotherapy and consultation.
