Dr Cynthia Putchat

Clinical Psychologist

I draw on more than 35 years of experience and learning in the practice of individual, group, and couples therapy.

About Me

I am a Clinical Psychologist licensed in Washington, DC and based in Georgetown. I treat anxiety, life transitions, postnatal and perinatal depression, divorce, and family issues. I offer a free consultation, diagnostic assessments, and individual psychotherapy.

Approach

After decades of practice I settle into a focused, steady rhythm with each person or couple, shaping sessions to the pace you need and testing what helps between meetings. In my Georgetown office and by secure video I mix reflective listening with focused questions, brief assessments when clarity is needed, and collaborative small experiments you can try at home to shift anxiety, mood, or relationship patterns. Sessions tend to be practical, candid, and measured. People navigating transitions, parenthood, or separation often find this way of working helpful.
