Mrs Belinda Spalding-Jones

Counseling Psychologist

Experienced psychoanalytic psychotherapist working with adults and children with a special interest in working with young children and parents

About Me

I offer a warm, safe space for adults and children to explore their inner world. My special interest is in under fives, understanding how they communicate feelings through play and behaviour. I help young children make sense of big emotions. Parents are guided to support their child's unique developmental journey. My aim is for children to find their voice and for families to build stronger connections.

Approach

Working with parents and little ones, I slow the pace to notice how feelings show up in play and everyday moments, moving gently between observation and reflection. Sessions in Johannesburg or online are relaxed and typically weekly, with brief parent reflections between child sessions to track small shifts. I pay attention to gestures, routines and relational patterns, naming what I see in simple language and suggesting small, practical experiments at home that support calmer behaviour. This way of working often helps families facing anxiety, early postnatal worries or challenging behaviours.
