Athanasia

Mrs Athanasia Kyrgia, MD

Child Psychotherapist

Child and adolescent psychiatry focuses on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders in children, adolescents, and families.

About Me

I work with children, adolescents, and their families to understand and address mental health challenges. My approach involves careful assessment to diagnose difficulties and create tailored treatment plans. We also focus on prevention, equipping families with tools to build resilience. My aim is to create a supportive space. Here, young people can grow towards emotional well-being, and families find clearer paths forward together.

Approach

Careful assessment shapes how diagnosis, treatment and prevention translate into practical steps for each young person and their caregivers. In my Thessaloniki clinic I work face-to-face, pacing sessions to the child’s tempo while meeting parents between appointments to share observations and adjust plans. Sessions mix short, focused tasks, play-based moments for under-fives, and collaborative goal-setting with adolescents so progress is measurable and understandable. Families navigating adoption, disability or separation often find this structured, steady approach helps them feel clearer and more capable.
