Ms Anelda Huisamen (Kloppers)

Clinical Psychologist

Senior clinical psychologist, having worked in the field of play therapy and clinical psychology for a combined 15 years. Primarily trained in insight-orientated (psychodynamic) psychotherapy, I integrate my comprehensive training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), CBT, Parent Guidance and Art Therapy.

About Me

I am a Clinical Psychologist in Orewa and Warkworth, Auckland, New Zealand. I work with adults and children on life transitions, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, and diagnostic assessments. I offer art and play therapy, clinical supervision, adoption-related support, and prevention programs.

Approach

In clinic, at my Auckland rooms or online, work unfolds with careful pacing and simple structure, often switching between talking, drawing and short practical experiments in the moment. Sessions are collaborative: we clarify a manageable goal, notice patterns together, and try small skills or creative ways to express difficult feelings; parents or carers are gently involved when helpful. Between sessions I offer brief tools or observations to practice, then we review what helped. This way of working suits people seeking clear, steady progress through life changes and anxiety.

Basic Information

Services

I’m a senior clinical psychologist, having worked in the field of play therapy and clinical psychology for a combined 12 years.

Primarily trained in insight-orientated (psychodynamic) psychotherapy, I integrate my comprehensive training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Art Therapy, Play Therapy and Attachment-Based Interventions as required.

As an accredited and experienced Mindfulness Teacher, I can support clients with Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. General assessments and treatment recommendations are also provided.

I have a special interest in tailoring interventions to families, assisting:

- children from 4 years old,

- teenagers and adolescents,

- as well as assisting with the relationships between parents and their children.

Currently, individual therapy or family/ parent-child therapy and assessments are primarily offered, with occasional DBT groups and parenting groups being run upon request.

My office is based at the Orewa House, a Health and Wellness Centre, set in a beautiful, tranquil location just off the Hibiscus Coast Highway, on the edge of the Alice Eaves Scenic Reserve. Walnut Cafe is next door for a quick coffee or appreciating the river.

If you want to know more or make an appointment, feel free to contact me.
