Dr Anca Carrington

Psychotherapist

I am interested in particular in the question of identity and personal expression. My approach to psychotherapy is psychoanalytic.

About Me

When questions of identity and personal expression feel complex, finding clarity can be challenging. I offer a psychoanalytic approach to help you explore these deeper aspects of who you are. We’ll work together to understand the underlying patterns and past experiences that have shaped your sense of self. This collaborative process aims to uncover your unique voice. It helps you live more authentically and feel more fully yourself.

Approach

When the shape of selfhood feels tangled, I invite a slow, listening pace that helps meanings surface. In sessions in Edinburgh or online, conducted in English or Romanian, I keep the conversation open to feelings, images and repeating relationship patterns. We explore memories, bodily experience and difficult interactions, using reflective conversation and occasional focused assessment to map how early dynamics influence current choices. This way of working tends to suit adults seeking clearer direction in relationships, mood or greater self-understanding.
