Clinical Psychologist

verified by TherapyRoute

I'm a clinical psychologist with 26 years in practice in Cape Town, working from a psychodynamic perspective. I see adults (20+) for individual psychotherapy. My work is with people who want to understand themselves more deeply, not just manage symptoms, but make sense of why they keep finding themselves in the same emotional places. This kind of work takes time and honesty. It's not quick, and it's not always comfortable. But it creates the possibility for real change rather than temporary relief.

About Me

I've been in practice for 26 years, and I still find this work compelling. I'm drawn to the question of how people come to live as they do the patterns that shape their relationships, the conflicts they can't seem to resolve, the ways they're stuck without knowing why. My work is with people who want to understand themselves more honestly, not just manage symptoms. That requires attention, patience, and a willingness to look at difficult things. It also requires respect for complexity, yours and the therapeutic process itself.

Approach

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is about looking at the patterns beneath the surface, the conflicts you can't resolve, the relationships that repeat, the parts of yourself that feel out of reach. We work by paying close attention to what happens between us in the room, to your dreams, to the emotional logic that organizes your life. This requires curiosity about yourself, tolerance for uncertainty, and willingness to think about difficult things. The work moves at its own pace. I don't offer quick fixes or techniques. I offer a space to think carefully, honestly, and without judgment about who you are and how you've come to live as you do.
