Mrs Amy Duffy-Barnes

Licensed Clinical Social Workers

I am a neurodivergent and neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQIA-affirmative, and culturally aware therapist who offers authenticity and a space where you will be seen, heard and respected as an authority and expert in your life with your own personal strengths and challenges.

About Me

As a neurodivergent and neurodiversity-affirming therapist, I welcome LGBTQIA+ individuals and those from diverse cultural backgrounds. I foster a space where authenticity thrives. Here, you are truly seen, heard, and respected as the expert on your own life. We'll collaboratively explore your experiences, ensuring your unique voice guides our work together. This client-centred approach helps you navigate strengths and challenges, finding a path that honours your journey.

Approach

Sessions unfold at your pace, centering your priorities while I offer clear structure and gentle experimentation. I meet with adolescents, adults, and families in Grand Rapids and via secure online sessions in English, using predictable routines and brief between-session check-ins when helpful. We combine mindful grounding, focused exploration of attention and mood patterns, pacing adjustments, and tailored skill practice so progress feels practical and sustainable. Those who value predictability, collaboration, and respectful practical tools often find this way of working helpful.
