About Me
Approach
In my clinical work as a psychologist, I draw from all the models of psychotherapy in which I have trained both locally and in the United Kingdom, and so my approach to treatment is essentially integrative. What model of psychotherapy I use is ultimately determined by the nature of the difficulties the patient I am seeing presents with. The therapy may be short-term or long-term - The duration will ultimately be determined by the severity and complexity of the patient's difficulties, the number of sessions they are comfortable having, and what they are able to afford.
The progress made in the therapy will continually be monitored and assessed by me, the therapist, and by you, the patient. I will routinely enquire what you are finding useful and/or not very useful about the therapy and will amend the treatment approach accordingly. We will jointly agree when it is time to begin ending the therapy.
Ask a quick question or arrange a time to meet.
Services
I am an experienced, competent, and compassionate psychologist offering therapy to adults, older adolescents, and couples, both heterosexual and same sex. I also offer courses in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
I have trained in a number of different models of psychotherapy in both South Africa and the United Kingdom, and draw on all of these when treating patients. I have extensive experience working as a psychologist in South Africa and the U.K. treating individuals presenting with a wide range of psychological and emotional difficulties. My basic session fee is covered by all medical aid schemes, and I am able to offer a sliding scale fee to individuals whose treatment is not covered by a medical aid and who cannot afford to pay the basic fee from their own pocket.
