This page lists Autism Family Therapists in Los Angeles. 3 in all.
What support for autistic people involves, and what it is not for
Autism is a diverse group of conditions related to the development of the brain 1. Abilities and needs vary, and they can change over time. Autism is often not identified until well after early childhood.
Support may mean assessment, or help with anxiety or low mood alongside the autism. It may also mean work with families and schools. It may mean changes to how therapy itself is done.
Therapy does not set out to remove autism. Ask a practitioner what experience they have with autistic people.
What a family therapist does, and who comes to the sessions
Everyone on this page describes their work as family or systemic therapy. Family therapy helps people in close relationships understand and support each other 2. It works with the relationships between people, not with one person alone.
Family here means whoever those involved count as family. Sessions usually have more than one person in the room.
A therapist may also meet members on their own 3. Ask a practitioner who they would want in the room.
What this page filters on
These are the only filters: the specialism recorded as Autism and the professional title family therapist.
